My daughter’s depressed, and I don’t know what to do.

Posted on 4/4/2018 by Greg Yoder

This is heartbreaking. In the last week, I’ve heard stories of girls as young as 11 years old struggling with depression. First, let me tell you not to let this get out of hand. If they’re stuck in it, GET HELP. It may be a chemical imbalance. But, if it seems like it’s a phase, here’s a tip. If your son or daughter is showing signs of depression and they haven’t been very active, get them doing something. Why? Dopamine. Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that motivates you, boosts your drive, helps you concentrate and compete, and just makes you feel good. Activity increases dopamine. That’s why athletes are less likely to struggle with depression. Ultimately, God can help, too. Pray about it with your kids.
