They grew up in the church. They KNOW the truth. They’ve heard the gospel time and time again. They can quote Scripture better than you can, sometimes, yet they’re fall from Christ. Yes, Scripture teaches that if we train up a child in the way of the Lord, they won’t fall away when they’re old. But some scholars say Proverbs 22:6 should actually be translated, “Train up a child in his own way, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” In other words, if we let our kids do their own thing without any discipline, they’re going to be adults who do their own thing. Parents, all we can do is be faithful and pray the Holy Spirit does His work in our kids’ lives.
